Past Kentucky Coroner President Endorsed
Commitment to Transparency
The Office of the Coroner serves the people, and the public deserves to know how this office operates. I will:
- Provide quarterly and annual public updates outlining the number and types of cases investigated.
- Publish reports in clear, easy-to-understand language so citizens can see exactly what their Coroner’s Office is doing.
- Maintain open communication channels with the community, law enforcement, and local government to ensure accountability at every level.
Public Education and Outreach
Too often, the duties of the Coroner are misunderstood. I will bring clarity by:
- Hosting annual public educational seminars to explain what happens when a death occurs, the role of the Coroner, and how families are supported during difficult times.
- Working with schools, civic groups, and first responders to promote awareness of public health and safety issues related to death investigation.
- Using the office as a source of community education rather than just a response agency.
Professional Standards and Training
The people of Pulaski County deserve a Coroner’s Office held to the highest professional standards. To achieve that, I will:
- Ensure all deputies are trained and American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) certified, bringing our office in line with national standards followed in places such as Jefferson County, KY, and Knoxville, TN.
- Focus on continuing education in areas like drug-related deaths, trauma, cultural sensitivity, and forensic best practices.
- Prioritize diverse training programs that reflect the unique needs of our county—especially during the summer months when our population grows and diversifies.
Bridging the Gaps
Collaboration is key in public service. As Coroner, I will:
- Strengthen partnerships with local law enforcement, emergency services, and healthcare providers.
- Build stronger relationships with funeral directors, clergy, and grief support organizations to ensure families receive compassionate care.
- Work to make the office a model of respect, dignity, and professionalism in every interaction.el.
Innovation and Modernization
Pulaski County deserves a Coroner’s Office that is prepared for the future. I will:
- Explore the use of modern technology for case management, reporting, and record-keeping to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Seek grants and partnerships to bring resources and funding into the office, reducing burdens on taxpayers while enhancing services.
- Establish a community advisory group to give residents a voice in shaping the priorities of the office.
Compassion and Integrity
Above all, I believe that serving as Coroner is a position of trust. I will:
- Treat every family with compassion, dignity, and respect, regardless of circumstances.
- Approach the role with fairness, honesty, and humility, ensuring that the Coroner’s Office is a place of service rather than politics.
- Remain committed to the highest ethical standards, putting people first in every decision.
